Empowering African students for a brighter future.

Students for Hope is a student-run subsidiary non-profit of Education Equals Hope (e=h). S4H was founded in 2022 after  Ella Buelow returned from her first impact experience to Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda. She visited six e=h project-sites and wanted to find away to help the children she get a solid education and find a path out of poverty.

During her experience, Ella saw 4 kids sharing a twin bed frame without a mattress. She witnessed school kids getting one meal a day and it wasn’t close to a decent portion or a healthy offering. She learned that getting clean water was impossible in remote villages and kids were dying of diarrhea, typhoid, and cholera. She witnessed ‘classrooms’ that were barren – no desks, chairs, blackboards or supplies, literally, just a tin-roof room with dirt floors.

In the midst of all the challenges and struggles, she also witnessed the desire to learn, the joy of getting to go to school, the gratefulness for a bowl of sustenance and the hope for a better future.

One of the biggest things Ella noticed was how so little could do so much. The funds needed for kids to go to school or get clean water or put a roof on a building were minuscule compared to what they would cost in the USA. It occurred to her that any small donation could have a massive impact and that anyone could start helping, even her – so Students for Hope was founded.

Students for Hope was launched so that students in North America can help students in Africa get an education and change the future for their family for generations to come. Our vision is that students adopt programs and schools in Africa and raise funds and awareness to help them gain an education and a chance at a safe, prosperous life.
